Title: Mythical Creatures of Maine
Contact: , 207-236-3642
Location: Rockport Public Library
Description: Join author Christopher Packard for a talk about his new book, Mythical Creatures of Maine. Learn how a biologist and science teacher came to write a book about mythical creatures as we survey the creatures of folklore that populate our state.

From Wabanaki creatures to modern cryptids like Bigfoot and everything in between including sailors, French Canadian settlers, lumberjacks, and guides, we'll look at creatures known to the people who know the land best.

We will also discuss if and how these creatures really exist as well as the importance and meaning of cultural stories as we discuss how these beliefs and stories are related across cultures in Maine and around the world.
Christopher Packard is the author of "Mythical Creatures of Maine" and a full-time high school science teacher at Bangor High School. He is also a trail runner, swordfighter, storyteller, and outdoor adventurer. When not teaching, writing, or wandering in the wilds he can often be found on his small homestead in Hampden, Maine gardening, raising chickens, and spending time with his wife and two sons.

This is an in person event being held in the lower level of the Rockport Public Library. We can only allow up to 25 people to attend so we are asking everyone to register for this event by calling the library at 236-3642 or stopping in and asking a staff member. Masks are required for everyone in the library.         207-236-3642
