In less than two years, membership swelled from 200,000 to over 30 million nationwide. Women, men, and the nation's school children knit and purled more than 24 million articles for the war effort in the most successful mobilization of community resources in the United States.

What inspires you to put pen to paper, your fingers to the keyboard? What moves you, fascinates you, scares you, or otherwise motivates you to sit down and write? It can take courage to respond to the call. Let’s talk about how we muster that courage.

Once a project is underway, what propels you forward? What slows your momentum? It takes perseverance to complete a writing project. Let’s talk about what keeps us going and what holds us back.

Writing can be exhilarating, terrifying, heart-wrenching and incredibly fulfilling. Writing can also be lonely. Let’s get together and talk about courage, perseverance and reaching our writing goals.

Gin Mackey is the author of Disappear Our Dead, a midcoast Maine mystery. Gin is past president of the writing organization Sisters in Crime/New England and a member of Maine Writers & Publishers. She lives and writes in Owls Head.
